I'm In Trouble
Meet Louie. He's four months old and a corgi/collie mix. He was rescued from being put down and is currently being fostered. Jon got an email at work about him (he gets a lot about animals in need of a home) and when I saw his face, especially his eyes- I knew I was in trouble. He has some physical similarities to my old dog Lacy and from the sounds of it a similiar temperment.
So.... Saturday I am driving to Tuttle Oklahoma some two hours away. If all goes well I'll bring him home. I've already been in contact with his foster family and they're making sure to keep all others at bay until I see him. I don't know how, or why, but, I feel really certain and good about this decision (which for me is quite spontaneous!). We'll see how things go... trying not to get my hopes too high, he still has to get along with Oscar. In the end this little guy will get a good home, and I hope I can be the one to give it to him!

Woot-ness!
Oh yes, this is what it looks like!
My oh so lovely "I'm high as a kite" pic doesn't look so bad with all that shiney stuff!
Thursday, the 21st, I recieved an email from the State Department that my passport was being shipped off to me. and that it would be in my hands by May 25th; not too bad considering I turned in the form four and a half weeks ago. Naturally I was excited, but, content to wait a few days. Well, the damn US Postal Service (note sarcasm) had to be efficient and I recieved it the VERY NEXT DAY! Yes, you heard me right I recieved it early and only a day after being notified. Big kudos to the USPS!!
Thanks to this pretty little thing I can go wherever I want in the world- except you know, like North Korea and such. Now just to get the money to get my butt there!

Le Dîner
French class was canceled tonight as my teacher's father had a medical emergency. Good news is, it sounds like he isn't in danger (yay for texting!). So rather than mope because there's no class Jon and I decided to bring a little French home for dinner. Mind you not all of the food presented is French, but, there is cheese, bread, wine, fruit, salad- pretty French overall! Though I will confess I cut up a salad leaf, a big no-no in France.... but in my defense it was HUGE!

Un noveau boulot
Monday morning, just before the clock struck 9am I was in an real live office getting ready to start a part-time position for the next seven weeks. The father of the children I watch every Friday approached me when he came home from work and I thought what the heck? So, I am now an office girl- unofficially a mule who makes sure things get done or people don't get paid. I am at the beck and call of whoever needs me for simple, or not, task, copy, log, file and fax every piece of business the company which sells insurance policies, supplements, annuities, that sort of thing.
So whee-haw! Two and a half jobs and one of them requires me to get up before *GASP* 8am! Vast amounts of coffee have been required. I know what you're thinking and yes, I'm laughing at myself adjusting to a more 'normal' schedule. It's been a bit of an adjustment so far especially being in such a masagonistic setting. The cologne dousing alone nearly killed me- thank God the allergy medicine kicked in!
At least it is extra money and the people are nice. It's weird though- here I am, a college grad, happy to be doing something, but, at the same time confused at my meager pay when what I do is really important (not my words I promise!) and when I can run circles around some of these guys in some arenas. Strange the little ironies of life huh? No matter, I will do my work, do it well, and try to enjoy work experience that I can put down on a resume. Can't really complain about that can I?

Mayfest
Nothing like a massive downtown bloc party to help lift my spirits. I did some volunteer work this weekend as well as walked around and ate loads of good food and checked out some awesome art. I love downtown Tulsa- it's very unique with its many art deco buildings amongst modern ones. It has a lot of character and a nice urban feel. Naturally I took a gob of photos!

Days Like This
Despite the sunshine making a rare appearance, despite the house looking better and better, I feel very chaotic. You'd think that there would be a way to feel at peace with what's going on in my life when the world is so pretty. However it's not the case today. Little frustrations, busy schedule, loose ends, and current life circumstances all equate to a seemingly heavy burden. Surely it is not as bad as it seems and all will be well soon enough. To be honest today is one of those days when all I want to do is curl up, hideaway, and in some magical moment of life all will be taken care of.
HA! Like that's going to happen...
So, instead I will leave this vague overtly emotional, okay flat out weird, blog entry and get my butt in gear and take care what I can today. At least that way something feels somewhat done. Surely that will help in someway! Funks are not something I like to be in for an extended period of time.

Ideas? (aka PLEASE HELP!)
The lovely Dedene suggested the Eiffel Tower be part of the decorum in my room. And since then I've been parusing art.com scouring prints; I am loving the idea. I already have a large print in a black frame of the Chat Noir, so naturally I would like something that goes along with the vintage idea. It's not neccessary though...
Anywho, I'm thinking about buying this print, though I bought mine at the local Hobby Lobby. The question is... should I get this one? What do you guys think? I'm not an interior decorator and infamously indecisive. Any comments or suggestions are most welcome. And thank you so much for putting up with me during all of this! Bisous à tous!

Before and After
Before
The look: Velveeta-cheese-dip-threw-up-all-over-my-bedroom-yellow. Imagine trying to go to sleep and your walls are radiating this color. Now think about waking up in the morning and the first thing you see is this color searing into your retina. Needless to say it had to be changed.
After
The look: Parisian-feel-nice-and-cozy-salon-red. (Oui, my inspiration came from Amélie in case you were wondering) Darker yes, but, the kind of warmth I can get behind. The room still needs some decorating, but, the hard part is over. Now this is a bedroom and I can look at all times of the day and not be horrified!
Please note that these pics were taken with really bad lighting as Oklahoma has decided it doesn't like sunshine right now.

Oh My Good Gawd
I am TIRED!! Yesterday what started out as a simple room painting project turned into quite an ordeal. Isn't it always like that though when it comes to home improvement project? Okay in fairness there wasn't a lot of drama just a lot of painting! Jon, roomie, and moi started work around 3pm and we didn't get done until well past midnight. After putting the room back together, clean up, etc I crashed around 2:15am.
Why so long for a small bedroom? It took three, yes three (not including the primer) coats of paint! Jon had to run to Lowe's just down the street to grab another gallon around 9:30pm. We didn't use that much in the living room which is easily twice if not three times the size of my bedroom.
I will say it was worth the effort, but, today I'm doing diddly squat. And I don't care who knows it! (and yes there will be pictures later- too lazy to do it today)

Painting Round 2 and 3
We'll call this the 'condensed' version of painting the living room Monday and Tuesday evening.

Painting Round 1
In a fit of restlessness or insanity (or both) my roomie and I started painting the living room of our house Sunday afternoon. The goal is to get the living room, dining room, and my bedroom done within a week. We also hope to get the kitchen done soon, though that isn't as big of a priority as the color in there is tolerable.
Why do this? Yeah I know, we rent a house BUT our landlord is really cool and reimburses us for any work we do on the house. The largest factor, however, is the color. I love, LOVE yellow- bright, open, airy, yellow. However, we have a lot of it in this cute house- three rooms in all (the ones mentioned above). And the yellow that is in those rooms... well got kinda gross after awhile (and I will show you that momentarily). So, we're trying to get things taken care of now before the heat of summer hits... okay really it's before we get desperate and take markers to the walls just to escape that color!

Oscar didn't last long out on the leash... we're still getting paint out of his coat!
Mina overall was pretty good, though she prefers rolling around in the plastic tarps over getting into paint. She's in kitty heaven!

Roomie hard at work!
The color to the left is the original color. It's not bad, but, in certain lights it's not the nicest to look at. And it just looked 'dirty' in comparison to the new softer, kinder yellow on the right which is also clean and inviting. Not to mention it's a LOT easier to decorate around!
Sorry for the glowing dvd's! Had to kick up the saturation to capture the new color. And even after stepping it up a notch or two I still wasn't able to get the yellow right! Ah well, you get the idea of the new color. I will post pics soon of round 2 and 3 of painting. As of Sunday evening we got half of the room done in one coat, and the other half was primed last night. Hopefully (please God, Jesus, and anyone else who's listening!) we'll get it all done tonight... first and second coats.

Birthday Dinner
My busy weekend included a rehearsal, recital, some minor home reno (pics to come later of course!), but, the most important occasion was Jon's birthday and the dinner for family and close friends Saturday evening.

Rain, Rain
It has been raining everyday of this week. Only a couple of times have we seen a bit of sun, but, those moments have been brief. Today is Jon's bday so we're going to meet his family at The Oaks (country club) to have a celebratory dinner. But this rain makes me so sleepy! Going to need an extra injection of coffee!
Hope it's sunny where you are! (if you're not here of course) However, if you are here then hang in there! Sun has to shine sometime soon.
