Goodbye Friday... I Hardly Knew Ya

I am currently on a babysitting gig until Sunday evening. As in the full time, take 'em everywhere, feed them three meals per day (plus snacks), get them cleaned, keep them entertained, and put them to bed at a reasonable hour deal- oh try to keep them from killing themselves, that's important. Whhheeee!!! I'm a bit worn out and in my frenzy to keep kids occupied, work (how I got things done is a wee bit beyond me), run errands, drop Jon off so he could go on a work float trip (the b*****), and keep Leo focused- yeah I forgot today is Friday!

I was going to write up a post showing off some cool stuff I took pictures of in Dallas, but, apparently my computer doesn't jive well with the whole plug-in internet thing right now. Snob. So, you'll have to tolerate some more non-picture post action from me. Oh and the whole, "Wow, this psuedo-full time mom job is cuhrazy!" stuff too. I love you moms out there, serious kudos to you all!

Oh and there's a positive development with work ordeal. I don't want to say anything just yet (gotta make sure you know!), but, I'm fairly happy with the results. Thanks again everyone for your advice on this!

A Letter to Sleep

Dear Sleep,
I know we've had our ups and downs over the years. Sometimes I haven't appreciated you as much as I should have. Or, sometimes I have taken you for granted. Thus, I understand why you haven't been around much lately- I would be that way too. As of right now I make this pledge in hopes that you will know how much I need you. I promise to be better to you this time around as two weeks without you around has shown me how much better my life is with you. My head is clear, my problems do not feel as overwhelming, and teaching children hours a day is less of a practice in trying not to bite their heads off. I miss liking my job, being able to think clearly, and drive without the fear that my lack of focus will get me into a wreck.

As you see Sleep, I have been doing a lot of thinking these past few days. And, I want you back desperately. I hope this little message will resonate with you and you will embrace me once again tonight. I miss you oh so much.

Love,
Megan

PS- If I keep going without you I will probably go postal. Just something to keep in mind as I don't think you would want that on your conscience. ;-)

Un noveau boulot

Monday morning, just before the clock struck 9am I was in an real live office getting ready to start a part-time position for the next seven weeks. The father of the children I watch every Friday approached me when he came home from work and I thought what the heck? So, I am now an office girl- unofficially a mule who makes sure things get done or people don't get paid. I am at the beck and call of whoever needs me for simple, or not, task, copy, log, file and fax every piece of business the company which sells insurance policies, supplements, annuities, that sort of thing.

So whee-haw! Two and a half jobs and one of them requires me to get up before *GASP* 8am! Vast amounts of coffee have been required. I know what you're thinking and yes, I'm laughing at myself adjusting to a more 'normal' schedule. It's been a bit of an adjustment so far especially being in such a masagonistic setting. The cologne dousing alone nearly killed me- thank God the allergy medicine kicked in!

At least it is extra money and the people are nice. It's weird though- here I am, a college grad, happy to be doing something, but, at the same time confused at my meager pay when what I do is really important (not my words I promise!) and when I can run circles around some of these guys in some arenas. Strange the little ironies of life huh? No matter, I will do my work, do it well, and try to enjoy work experience that I can put down on a resume. Can't really complain about that can I?

Wow

I woke up before 7am, on my own. This is monumental as I am one heck of a sleeper! Okay, in all fairness, I dozed off about 8:45am and had a quickie nap. Otherwise I've been awake and functional; though the degree of functionality can be disputed. So, I've taken advantage of this situation by:

-Nearly crying over the lack of sufficient coffee beans to get me going

-Mopping, vaccuming, and sweeping the floors

-Changing up my blog again!

-Typing up a blog entry

-Cleaning the kitchen

-Sitting on my duff

All that's left is to get ready, go to work and teach for two and a half hours. French class is canceled tonight (boo!), so maybe more couch time is in order? I think I can squeeze that in.

Alive?

Did you know that staying up for 21-22 hours straight can really mess with your sleeping schedule and sense sanity? I've been back in Tulsa since 5am Wednesday morning and I still don't feel as if I caught up on sleep. Last night I actually fell asleep at Jon's sister's place after dinner which is very unusual. This morning I felt as if I didn't sleep at all and that feeling still remains even after copious amounts of coffee.

Today is Saturday and there are things to do and I have no inclination to do them. None. I'm pretty sure these things can wait until tomorrow... does that make me a horrid procratinator? Wait.... don't answer that.

I think the animals have it right on this one. Just lay around, chill, get up only to eat and take care of 'business'. Sometimes I wish I were them.

Then again I'd have to clean my behind with my own tongue.....yeah maybe not.
