It Does Look Gruesome...

Leo showing off his external fixator. When we picked him up he was whiney and obviously stressed out. Now, he's calmer and acting more like his old self. Leo's going to be a bit high maintence for a bit, but, we're hoping he'll be able to go out and about in 7-10 days. Fingers crossed that after 8 weeks, when the external fixator is removed, his bone will have healed. Thank you all for the well wishes and keep 'em coming please! Want Leo 100% as soon as possible.

Poor baby! I'm glad to know he's doing better already. Hope he gets well very soon!

Bless him! He looks so sad. I wish I could send Fifty over to hang out. They could get all cuddly and watch dvds.... Cats & Dogs, Lassie, Marmaduke...

Sarah- Thanks! He's quite a site right now, especially when he hobbles to and from the restroom. Hopefully he'll get more comfortable in the next couple of days.

Sara Louise- Yeah he's a bit disoriented right now. That look is a LOT better compared to when we picked him up at the vet- omg that face nearly broke my heart! I wish Fifty could come over and chill too! Or at least play with Louie, because he's getting nuttin' and he's pretty bugged by that lol. Can't please everyone I guess lol!

He does look really sore and sorry for himself. (I have to keep moving the comment box of his photo so I can't see his leg - I'm such a wimp!)

Sending some good thoughts out for him (and you!).

Awww poor baby. That does look gruesome. I hope he is feeling better soon. I can't imagine how sad it must be to see him hobble off to go outside... poor guy. Don't stress too much. These things happen. What an amazing support network you have though!

Poor baby! I had to catch up on the last post to find out what had happened. Glad he'll be fixed soon. He's going to go crazy having to lay around so much.

Annelise- Yeah he's quite pitiful looking isn't he? The hardware coming out of his leg is medieval torture like looking, but, it really is the best option for him. Hopefully it won't look quite as bad when the swelling and oozing go down. Thank you for the well wishes!

Jessica- He's hobblin' alright. I have to 'escort' him outside right now. Can't risk him getting funny ideas like running around! Thanks for the supportive words- I do feel awful, but, having Leo home and helping him to get well is making me feel a bit better. Therapetics is awesome with the network- they are so supportive and helpful! Really, for as bad as it is, the situation has gone very, very well.

Dedene- Yes he will. Right now he doesn't want to move much as he's a bit whimpy when it comes to pain. Can't say I blame him though. At least with this set up, once the pain goes down, he'll be able to bear some weight (little, by little of course) and move around more. I'll only have to keep him really still for 7-10 days- a lot better than the original project of at least 6 weeks!
