I Have Joined the Cult

Picture from techknots.com. I don't have my camera during this babysitting gig, so thank you Google images for doing the hard work of searching for me!

I feel like I should begin chanting, "One of us!" to everyone now. Yesterday, right before I was to meet with the mother of the twins I'm babysitting this weekend, I got a call from the AT&T store down the street. The wonderful lady gave me the good news, new iPhone had arrived. It was as if the heavens had opened up and the angels were singing, 'You have an iPhone!'
-
Naturally I headed there asap, the mother didn't even mind I was going as she too is an iPhone owner (told ya, we're a cult). So I got there and of course there were two people with complicated issues ahead of me. Ten, somewhat agonizing, minutes later I was called and I nearly skipped over to the counter. My little, sleek phone came out of it's package and into my dirty hands (I smudged it!! Sadness :-P).
-
I canNOT put this new thing down. It's next to impossible folks. I knew I would like one and would be hooked quickly, but, the this is some seriously strong punch we're talking about here. One little taste and I was immediatly addicted. Jon too has donned the robes of the iPhone cult (he switched over to AT&T and we're bundling our phone packages together and splitting the difference). Last night we were playing Words with Friends, a scrabble like game, right next to eachother. We haven't played a real board game together, ever, and here we were happily tapping our little screens and bonding over the experience.
-
See? It's not so bad. Come join us. It will make you 'happy' :-P*
*Mind you I have complete respect for anyone who doesn't want to or can't get this phone. It's just fun to pretend to do the whole cult recruitment peer pressure thing. Really fun in fact. ;-)

Getting one next month! Since I already have a macbook and ipod it would be wrong for me not to have an iphone. We are a cult it's true. Once you go mac, you don't go back :-)

What's REALLY fun is to be sitting in Starbucks with several other women, some of whom may be in pajama pants, and most of us have our iPhones out and are 'Bump'ing contacts to one another.

Oh, the looks you get from the businessmen... >:D

I want to be part of that cult too :-( Except instead of a cult, I consider it more: the country club of cell phones. Are the pool boys hot? I imagine they are ;-)

Sara Louise- Woo hoo!! Yay for you! They are fightfully addictive, but, it's awesome to be able to get so much info so quick and be organized and have fun games on it all at the same time. What's not to love about our little cult!! Love the 'once you go mac, you don't go back' that should be copyrighted- brilliant!

Sarah- OMG is it sad of me to say I wanna do that sometime just to see the expressions on the businessmens faces?? Okay,so, it is, but, as we like to say- it's the little things in life right?

Caitie- Oh yes, they are hot, hot, HOT! Jump on in (when you can), the water and the scenary is mighty fine. ;-)

I want to join this cult so badly. But I'm scared I'll get totally addicted!! It's funny, a couple of months ago, I was toying with the idea of getting rid of my phone altogether because I hate the thought of people thinking you should be accessible 24 hours a day. But because I travel so much for uni, I need a phone in case of an emergency on the road or if my car breaks down somewhere along the lonely country highway. So I'm stuck. I hate the phone I have, but don't want to give in to the iPhone... yet.

I will though. I cannot resist a bandwagon. Or a cult.

Have a great weekend!

annelise- I can't blame you one single bit! Truth be told, I wasn't wanting to jump on either b/c people were like, "OMG you HAVE to have this!!" lol And like you I'd rather not have my phone on me all the time. I quite intentionally take breaks from phone. I finally caved in with the iPhone mainly because I am going to be working a lot more it is a bit more practical to have. I'm hoping to utilize a lot of the organizational features it has to help me get better at being on top of events, schedules, and to-dos. We'll see how this little experiment goes! lol Have a great weekend yourself. Thanks hun!

I would have crossed over ages ago except for the fact that AT&T has the monopoly on your iPhone communication dollar. I hate AT&T almost as much as I hate Bank of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. So, no doubt, it will be a cold day in hell before I have an iPhone in the USA.

In France the iPhone is not monopolized by one service provider but the monthly fee is excessive...

I'll probably go to my grave without ever having been the proud and addicted owner of an iPhone. Wah! Wah! Wah!

Pliers- Yeah, when Jon got his phone and switched over to AT&T he said he had, "Joined the dark side." The monopoly does stink. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth to be honest. I have been with AT&T forever- well, first it was Cingular (before it was bought) then AT&T. I would be totally fine with another carrier though, my loyalty to them is not that strong because let's face it they're not exactly hurting are they? ;-) Jon switched to the U-Verse (AT&Ts fiber optic based 'cable') and in doing that he could lump everything together (internet and phone). We did the math to add me to a 'family plan' and figured out that it would be just as cheap, if not cheaper for me to be on that plan. Sooo... I sold my soul for convience and less money. ;-)

Oh did I mention the U-Verse is the only carrier here that has TVMonde5? Why do they make it hard to resist? lol

I'm sure it's lots of fun. You've helped Steve Jobs become even richer.

Dedene- LOL I do what I can to help him out you know. ;-) I like Apple products, hate the pricetag, and their sense of superiority in the market. That said, this dang phone is indeed a whole LOT of fun.
